Everybody knows how sports is important in the United States.
If at school you do good in sports you can have a bright future, go to the notorious colleges and universities, have scholarships and even become a professional athlete.
And sports means a lot of money, not only for athletes but also universities they come from.
So, in order to entice future "stars" in their teams, universities do the most crazy things.
For example, the University of Oklahoma built a 4 million dollar locker room for its players.
Each athlete's room has a flat TV screen and the latest music system. The locker room looks more like an expensive hotel lobby: marble floors and expensive lighting, not to mention the hot tub and a huge bar counter.
Thus, it is not only useful to go to the university, but it is pleasing as well :)
