When the Earth was still flat

대지가 아직 평평했고
And clouds made of fire

구름들은 불타고 있던 시절
And mountains stretched up to the sky

그리고 하늘까지 산이 솟아있을 때

Folks roamed the Earth Like big rolling kegs

그들은 두 쌍의 팔이 있었고

그들은 두 쌍의 다리가 있었고

They had two faces peering Out of one giant head
하나의 큰 머리에서 나온 두개의 얼굴을 가지고 있었어
So they could watch all around them

그래서 그들은 주위를 둘러보면서
As they talked while they read
말하는 동시에 읽을 수 있었지

And they never knew nothing of love
그리고 그들은 사랑의 아무 것도 몰랐어

지구의 아이 역시 비슷한 모양이었는데
They looked like two girls Rolled up in one

두 여자가 하나로 말려있는 것처럼 보였지

그리고 달의 아이는

Looked like a fork shoved on a spoon
숫가락에 포크가 겹쳐진 모양으로

They was part sun, part Earth,
한쪽은 태양, 한쪽은 지구

Part daughter, part son
한쪽은 딸, 한쪽은 아들이었어

Now the gods grew quite scared of our strength and defiance

어느 날 신들은 인간의 힘과 반항성에 꽤나 겁을 먹게 되었지
And Thor said,

토르가 말했어
“I’m gonna kill them all with my hammer like I killed the giants”

"거인족을 죽였던 것처럼 나의 망치가 너희를 몰살시키리"
But Zeus said,

그러나 제우스가 말했지
"No, You better let me

"아냐, 내게 맡겨

Use my lightning like scissors like I cut the legs off the whales Dinosaurs into lizards.”

고래의 다리를 자르고 공룡을 도마뱀으로 만들었듯 가위 같은 내 번개로 잘라주지"
And then he grabbed up some bolts

그러더니 벼락을 몇개 집어들고

He let out a laugh said,

크게 웃으며 말했어

“I’ll split them right down the middle

Gonna cut them right up in half.”
"딱 반으로 쪼개주지"

And the storm clouds gathered above

폭풍이 하늘 위에 모이더니
Into great balls of fire

거대한 불덩이가 되었어
And then fire shot down

불은 벼락이 되어

From the sky in bolts
하늘에서 쏟아졌지

Like shining blades Of a knife

마치 빛나는 칼날처럼
And it ripped Right through
살을 찢고 물어뜯은 거야

the flesh Of the children of the sun And the moon And the earth

태양의, 달의, 지구의 아이들의 살을


And some Indian god

어떤 인도의 신은
Sewed the wound up to a hole
찢어진 구멍을 꿰메어

Pulled around to our bellies
배꼽을 만들어

To remind us of the price we pay
언제까지나 우리 죄를 기억하게 했지

And Osiris and the gods of the Nile

오시리스와 나일 강의 신들은
Gathered up a big storm

큰 폭풍우를 부르고
To blow a hurricane
허리케인을 일으켜

To scatter us away In a flood of wind and rain
비와 바람의 홍수속으로

A sea of tidal waves

파도치는 바다로

To wash us all away
모두 쓸어버렸어



If we don't behave

만약 다시 거역 한다면

They'll cut us down again
또 반으로 잘라준다지

And we'll be hopping around on one foot
그러면 우리는 한 다리로 껑충껑충 뛰고

And looking through one eye
한 눈으로 보게 될 거라고
