Spiritual Machines 앨범에서 가장 거칠고 격렬한 느낌의 곡이 이 Middle of Yesterday입니다. 곡 도입부의 "You feel the love, You feel the past, It's all the things you thought you had" 부분이 상당히 인상적이죠.
일단 가사의 내용만 보면 뭔가 파트너에게 크게 잘못했는데 그것도 모자라 같은 잘못을 반복해서 죽도록 빌고 있는 모양새네요. 후렴구 전의 가사를 보면 알콜 중독이나 뭔가 약물에 손을 댄것 같은 느낌도 들고요. 근데 아마 이곡도 그렇게 단순하진 않고 책의 내용과 어떤 식으로든 관련이 있지 않을까 싶군요.
